Carter finds his rhythm under Navarro: “The rim definitely gets bigger”

Tyson Carter delivered his best EuroLeague scoring performance as Crvena Zvezda powered past Maccabi Tel Aviv 100-78 in Belgrade.
The American guard scored 14 first-quarter points to set the tone, finishing with 24 and six three-pointers. Jared Butler added 21 points, while Jordan Nwora contributed 18.
“Once you see those first couple of shots go in, the rim definitely gets bigger. And with that momentum, the energy from the crowd and your teammates.. It’s fun to be out there,” Carter said after the game.
The performance marked a welcome contrast to Carter’s difficult first season in Serbia. A pulmonary embolism sidelined him for almost five months early in the campaign, and he struggled to regain his rhythm after returning in March.
Now reunited with Ibon Navarro, the coach under whom he flourished at Unicaja, Carter offered his strongest reminder yet of that form. Their successful partnership in Malaga included consecutive Basketball Champions League titles, with Carter earning Final Four MVP honors in 2025.
“It’s cool because, obviously, I played for him for three years before. He knows me, I know him, and we have a good relationship. So yeah, that’s definitely an advantage.”
Against Maccabi, that familiar confidence and shooting touch were on full display.
